This is a standard RadioShack project box. power switch on the side and pushbutton on top. The assembly on the front where the beam exits was taken from an old pen/laser pointer combo.

here is the Blu-Ray laser unit. It is a standard sized diode glued to a metal mounting bracket.

There are 5 pins on the back of this module instead of the usual 3. There are leads for IR, Red, Blue, Feedback, and common ground. I only connected the blue diode on this project for now.
